Home Made Taco Seasoning

Home Made Taco SeasoningBeing a Texan and loving all food Mexican, I’m a major taco freak. Whether it’s authentic, soft corn tortilla tacos – called Street Tacos around here – or the more American version with lettuce, tomato and cheese, I can snarfle down a LOT of them in a hurry. I’ve been known to have tacos for any meal, including breakfast. (Yes, breakfast tacos normally have eggs, but they don’t have to. And either way, they can have meat.)

For those who like to have tacos regularly, here’s a seasoning recipe you make in bulk, then use whenever you have the need. It takes very little time to make up a big jar of the mix, then measure it out as needed. What could be better?

Ok, fine. Having me come to your house to make the tacos for you may be easier, but it will cost you a whole lot more than doing them yourself. So… here’s what you do:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup chili powder
1/4 cup onion powder
1/8 cup ground cumin
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Home Made Taco SeasoningInstructions:

Measure all ingredients into a large jar with a tight lid.

Close the lid and shake the jar like the bejeebers.

Use 4 tablespoons of seasoning mix for each pound of ground beef.

By the way, this seasoning works well with ground chicken or turkey as well, although you may want to add a bit more of the mixture due to the poultry’s milder taste.

Until next time,

Play with your food!
