I love spaghetti. All spaghetti. In fact, I love it so much that I’ve developed numerous recipes for variations on this favorite theme. One of my most favorite, however, is Spaghetti Bolognese – spaghetti with a meat sauce.
This particular recipe is not entirely traditional, as I’ve added a few touches of my own. However, the basic recipe goes back to my childhood, when one of my best friends was of Italian descent. His mom always had a pot of sauce simmering on the back of the stove, and she had learned the art of Italian cuisine from her mother and grandmother.
While there are a few ingredients that may surprise you, the preparation is fairly straightforward. Check out the video below to learn how to make an elegant and extremely tasty version of this classic Italian recipe.

After 50 years of making a meat sauce, this is my new go-to recipe. I substituted the Worcestershire for my usual anchovy paste and it worked great. Milk is indeed a great addition.
Added some hot Italian sausage to the burger for personal taste.
I use canned whole “San Marzano” type roma tomatoes. They are available in many supermarkets and at Walmart. They come in more of a tomato sauce than just a juice and have a great tomato flavor.
Keep up the great work. This the fifth of your recipes I have tried and I love each of them.
Hi, Patrick and thanks so much for the comment. Italian sausage is an excellent addition to the ground meat, and I like hte idea of using San Marzano tomatoes. I’ll have to try that out.
Am very pleased to know you’ve found good recipes to add to your file. Here’s hoping you find many more!!
