MK Gear: Wine Aerator

Wine AeratorWine is different. With other beverages, you basically open the container and drink. Not so with wine. Wine requires a bit more attention. First, you have to have a special thingamajig to open the bottle. Then you have to let the wine breathe. Or not.

Here’s the thing: allowing the wine to breathe (come in contact with air) brings out the bouquet (that subtle, complex combination of aromas) and improves the taste. Enter the decanter. You pour your wine into a fancy “pitcher” and let it sit for an hour or so.

But a lot of people (me!) are not that patient. And I’m willing to bet it was one of my impatient cohorts that thought up the aerator. With one of these, you can drink your wine immediately. Check out the video to see what it’s all about.

As you can see, it’s exceedingly simple to use. And, as I said earlier, once you’ve aerated your wine, you can drink it immediately. The other cool thing… just like with the wine opener I showed you, using an aerator will make people think you know a lot more than you do. (It works for me!) Have fun, and…

Play with your food (and wine!)
